projects....

It seems that even with my best intentions to post more often, time slips by, and I am less than stellar at writing new posts.  I have become a bit discouraged with blogging.  I am one of those people that get caught up on little things like number of blog followers, and I love to read each and every comment that is left.  Since I switched to this new blog, it seems there are less and less people who read, and fewer comments, and I sometimes wonder, if I should even bother to still keep a blog.  But then I remember, my intentions of starting this blog was to be a memory keep of our adventures.  A journal to print out at some time, and make into a little book of our crazy days.  So I will continue to blog.... but if there are any people out there who visit my little space, please do leave a comment, I truly enjoy them!  We have had some cold weather for our area, we may even get snow this weekend! SNOW!!!!  Very exciting.... not so esciting for the garden.  I got a bit excited and planted some veggies a bit soon, and frost and rain has not been kind to the poor little plants.  Hurry up spring...I am ready!  I have been sewing up a storm.... overalls for the boys, blankets, pants, stuffed loveys, I even made a dress for myself out of this cute pattern...  I made view A in a very cute floral
pattern.  It was a bit frumpy and maternityish at first
so I made a sash for it, and now I love it.  All that is left to do is sew the buttons in the back.  I plan to make at least 2 more from this pattern.  I have been slow to upload photos from my camera... but many projects have been in the works.  Sewing projects, crafting projects, homemade playdough, birdie treats, painting projects, little boys room projects... lots of projects. Today I painted the boys' dresser drawers pale green, blue, and aqua, it really perked up the room.  I have cut out some cardstock clouds and am making a sunshine to hang up, along with some glow in the dark stars.  I have my heart set on making them so new bigger sized quilts for their bunk beds... bunk bed sized blankies and quilts have been on my mind for a while, I just have not gottet to it yet, or had the funds for fabric.  Soon, I hope.  I would love to make something with polka dots, lots of different polka dots, and then some cutesy large prints.  Something unique, retro, and colorful!!!  Well, that is what we have been up to!

Love Dovey Valentine.... and a recipe for homemade 3 Musketeer Bars

Happy Valentine's Day......
This year was our first year handing out Valentines to classmates..... Caillou was very excited to make special little treat bags and cards for his class to share, and tremendously enthusiastic to show me all the valentines he recieved from his friends.  Jasper and I made cupcakes and enjoyed some sweet treats while Caillou was in preschool.  We delivered cupcakes and Valentine's to our friends at the taco shop, and ate a spicy dinner there too!  Daddy is home for a few days and brought us some goodies and we in turn had some homemade 3 musketeers awaiting him!

Three Musketeers Bars....

ingredients....

How to make it

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar,
  • corn syrup, water, and salt.
  • Heat, stirring, to boiling, then continue to cook using a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
  • Beat the egg whites until they are stiff and form peaks.
  • Don't use a plastic bowl for this.
  • When the sugar solution comes to 270 degrees F,or the soft−crack stage, remove from the heat and pour the mixture in thin streams into the egg whites, blending completely with a mixer set on low speed.
  • Continue to mix until the candy begins to harden to the consistency of dough.
  • This may take as long as 20 minutes. At this point add the semisweet chocolate chips.
  • Remember that the candy must already be at the consistency of dough when you add the chocolate;
  • The nougat will thicken no more after the chocolate is added.
  • When the chocolate is thoroughly blended and the nougat has thickened,
  • Press it into a greased 9x9−inch pan.
  • Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • With a sharp knife, cut the candy in half down the middle of
  • the pan.
  • Then cut across into 7 segments to create a total of 14 bars.
  • Melt the milk chocolate chips in the microwave for 2 minutes on half
  • power, stirring halfway through the heating time.
  • Melt completely, but be careful not to overheat. Resting a bar on a fork dip each bar into the chocolate to coat completely and place on wax paper.
  • Cool until firm at room temperature, 1 to 2 hours. Makes 14 candy bars.

everyday is an adventure.....

Having three boys, ONE being particularly a busy boy, full of wonder, mischief, and energy... I probably would be wise, to never ever leave the house.  Never go out into public, braving the crowds of the grocery store or the other mothers and their more well behaved children at the parks.  I should probably not attempt things like taking my children into the bakery, when I know they are going to not listen, when I say " DO NOT CLIMB ON THE GLASS COUNTER" or " STOP TOUCHING THE DONUTS".  I should probably NEVER EVER and I do mean never ever, drive on the freeway with the ROWDY LITTLE PEOPLE .... heading towards museums.  NEVER EVER should we probably ever think of going to the the museum.  We most definitely should not ever parade into the taco shop with the big stroller, dolly strollers loaded with dollies, noisy, burritio hungry rowdy people, because I know that at some point during our meal... RICE WILL BE CATAPAULTED across the restaraunt.  Alas,  I know i WOULD BE VERY VERY WISE.... to stay at home, keep my rowdy little people contained to the privacy of our own little green house of lunacy, BUT i AM  A GLUTTEN FOR PUNSISHMENT.... AN ADVENTURE SEEKER.... and so out and about we go.... TO THE GREAT DISMAY of all those poor unfortunate people who might also be out and about at the same places where  WE ARE OUT AND ABOUT.
What can I say, as naughty as my rowdy little peoples can be when we are out and about, we like adventures, outings, and fun experiences.... look out little town.... the Foret boys are coming!
