It's just one of those days....

This picture of Caillou at 5 months describes my mood today perfectly. It has just been one of those days.  Daddy has been gone now for 4 days... Gee only 56 more to go.  I am have an oscar the grouch sort of evening.  I am grumpy and intend to stay that way, at least until tomorrow morning.

Me and my pal...

Caillou loves his little brother so much!  He always wants to be right next to him, holding his hand, giving him binky, reading stories, and snuggling.  On this particular day, Caillou and Jasper were keeping each other company while I baked cookies!

Afternoon snack...

Here we are back at the pumpkin patch feeding the goats.

Bubba...

In the spirit of raising our little ones with their Cajun culture... this is our new pet Bubba the crawfish.  Caillou named him, himself.  And no... we won't be eating him or taking him to any crawfish boils!

Beep Beep goes the truck....

Here is our big boy Caillou at Daddy's graduation from truck school.  He even got to sit in the driver's seat!  Yesterday we took daddy to the bus stop for an emotional farewell.  He is off for training and work driving great big trucks. We hope to have him home by Christmas.

Cake, cake, and more cake...

Here is a picture of the birthday cake I made for Mama.  I have baked three cakes this week.  Hubby and mama's birthdays are back to back, so there were two cakes... and I just finished frosting a double layer chocolate cake for hubby's CDL graduation tomorrow!  I think I'm ready to move on to pies now!!!

It is so neat to see how kids have their own individual personalities so early on!  Caillou and Jasper are so uniquely different from each other.  Caillou was very busy and active straight form the get go.  Jasper has been very calm and quiet so far.  He is so patient, he hardly ever cries... maybe once a week, and it last for only a minute.  He is a short napper, but sometimes gives me an 8 hour stretch at night.  He is very laid back, content, and easily pleased.  He is 15 pounds now!  He loves to watch big brother, Caillou while he plays.  I have the two best boys ever!

Cooking with Caillou...

No toy kitchens in our house.  Caillou prefers the real thing!  We decided to make our own tortillas.  This was great fun for him;  he practically made them all by himself.  He really enjoyed rolling out the dough.  Tomorrow we will be making zucchini muffins.

Aspiring musicians...

Caillou and Jasper have started a band.  They will be holding auditions shortly for a squeeze box player, guitarist, and lead singer!!!!

Little Rascals

Caillou and Jasper are really starting to have fun together now.  Big brother has learned to be gentle and share with his little brother.  Jasper is mesmerized just watching Caillou play!  I can only imagine how much fun they will be having together a year from now.

Pajama Party

With cold weather just around the corner, it was time to bust out the fleece and start sewing!  Here are the boys' first pair of longjohns for the winter.  I am working on more tonight! Don't they look cozy!

My little men...

It's on days like this one, that I know without a doubt there is no better job, no greater calling than that of motherhood.  I love my boys so very much, wild little Caillou, so full of life, mischief, and energy, and quite little Jasper, peaceful, happy, and curiously taking in the world around him.  I am so blessed to have these two little angels in my life.  I look forward to all the adventures  our happy little family will have together.

Farmer Boy...

Caillou had a wonderful Saturday evening at our pumpkin patch.  He got to see lots of animals, climb a gigantic rock, and explore all through the pumpkin patch.  Little brother, Jasper enjoyed seeing everything and being outdoors.  

Blessing Day...

Yesterday, Jasper was given his blessing in church.  It seems like it was only yesterday that Caillou was being given his blessing.  Grandma Alice, Boo-Bah, Grandpa Papa, and Grammy were able to join our little family for this special day.  Jasper wore the same outfit that I had sewn for Caillou.  He looked very handsome and angelic.  He was very peaceful and calm as always; his quiet personality is such a contrast compared to his boisterous older brother!

Bath time...

As you can see, both of my boys love their baths!  Caillou dives under water, swims, splashes, and kicks, and when he is done in his tub, he takes a second bath in Jasper's tub.  Jasper is very happy and relaxed in the water, it is one of his favorite parts of the day.
